Position Summary:
The Process / Manufacturing Engineer – Crystal Focus will report to Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will provide technical expertise necessary to design and develop processes to support quartz crystal resonator fabrication.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design manufacturing equipment to improve and update crystal manufacturing processes.
- Designs crystal resonators using various software programs (In house, COMSOL, etc.)
- Maintains various manufacturing processes which include, but not limited to lapping and polishing, chemical etching, thin film evaporation, cleaning, and sealing.
- Uses engineering tools and statistical concepts to maintain and improve processes.
- Generation of production level documentation and procedures
- Specifies and initiates purchase of manufacturing tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Plans, specifies, and justifies capital equipment expenditures.
- Lead product and/or process improvement teams.
- Works closely with cross-functional engineering groups performing concurrent engineering

Knowledge, skills, & Abilities:
- Experience designing quartz crystal resonators is preferred.
- Experience with manufacturing and fabrication processes regarding quartz crystal resonators (chemical processes, thin film deposition, cleaning, sealing, etc.) is preferred.
- Understanding of vacuum systems
- Hands on position requiring interaction among multiple disciplines within MtronPTI
- Familiarity with multiple software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point is required.
- Use of AutoCAD, Solidworks, Minitab and Microsoft AX is preferred.
- Candidates must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work on ITAR items without a license
Education, Experience, & Training:
- 4-year degree in Engineering or related field
- > 3 years’ experience in physics, electromechanical design, and or semiconductor processing fields is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements & Working Environment:
- Firm understanding of safety requirements for chemical processing
